Soft 3D Fiberoptical Actuation

In cooperation with the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomolecular Systems (IBBS).

This project pursued a novel approach for fully integrated fiber-based active optical components that are a few 100 µm in diameter small. We engineered and evaluated a soft PDMS-based micro-optofluidic lens on the tip of an optical fiber. By changing the static pressure via the microfluidic adapter, we sought to change the curvature of our soft PDMS lens and thus alter its optical properties (funded by the DFG/University of Stuttgart fundingline Biomedical Systems Seed Funding in the Terra Incognita program 2022).
